Two Arrested for Diesel Fuel Theft in Fort Bend County
Fort Bend County Sheriff’s deputies and investigators have arrested Alfred Chapur Dominguez, 26, and Karel Cardenas Caballero, 28, for allegedly stealing diesel fuel from local gas stations in the county.
The arrests came following an investigation initiated by the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office in January and continued through February 2024. The investigation focused on diesel fuel thefts reported at gas stations in the Richmond and Sugar Land areas.
During their inquiry, investigators uncovered that in January, a total of 639 gallons of diesel fuel were stolen from a gas station situated in the 10100 block of S Hwy 6 in Sugar Land, Fort Bend County, Texas. Furthermore, in February, a total of 690 gallons were pilfered from a gas station located in the 6400 block of S Peek Road in Richmond, Fort Bend County, Texas.
According to reports, the suspects allegedly utilized a minivan equipped with battery-operated pumps to siphon fuel into concealed tanks inside the vehicle.
Following leads, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office Burglary and Theft Investigators caught the suspects red-handed during a diesel fuel theft at a gas station located in the 6600 block of Grand Mission Blvd., in Richmond, Fort Bend County, Texas.
Both suspects were subsequently arrested and booked into the Fort Bend County Jail. They face charges of Violation of Motor Fuel Tax Requirement, a second-degree felony. Additionally, Dominguez faces an additional charge of Unlawful Use of Criminal Instrument, a third-degree felony.
Sheriff Eric Fagan emphasized, “We will not tolerate crime of any kind in Fort Bend County. Specifically addressing the theft of diesel fuel, beyond the immediate impact on businesses and residents, it contributes to environmental harm through spills and leaks. Ensuring the well-being of our community and the safety of our environment is of vital importance.”
