The incident unfolded when Houston Police Department (HPD) patrol officers responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a shooting at an apartment complex on Dunlap Street. Upon arrival, they discovered a man with a gunshot wound receiving medical assistance from Houston Fire Department (HFD) paramedics. The wounded man recounted to the police that he had heard a gunshot from the living room of the apartment and upon investigation, found his roommate unresponsive on the floor with Fonteneaux holding a pistol over him. In fear for his life, the man fled to his bedroom but was shot as he escaped through a second-floor window. The injured victim, 55, was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Inside the apartment, officers found the roommate unresponsive and also suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite efforts from HFD paramedics, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. The identity of the deceased victim, aged 37, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Fonteneaux was later located and detained by Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office deputies. The surviving victim positively identified her as the assailant. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was notified, leading to Fonteneaux being charged and subsequently booked into the Harris County Jail.
