Toddler Fatally Struck in Houston Parking Lot Accident

Houston police are investigating an incident that occurred at 5959 Guhn Road in the Fairbanks area on Tuesday evening, February 6, 2024, resulting in the death of a 19-month-old girl.

According to authorities, two adult females were escorting children down a staircase at a business located at the aforementioned address. During this time, one of the women accidentally dropped her cell phone. As she bent down to retrieve it, one of the children continued walking and ventured into the parking lot.

Tragically, at that moment, the child was struck by a gray Chevrolet Impala. The female driver of the vehicle promptly stopped, exited her car, and attempted to provide assistance. Emergency medical services were summoned, and the child was transported to a nearby hospital. Regrettably, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as a 29-year-old woman, cooperated with authorities and showed no signs of impairment. Consequently, she was released following questioning, and no charges have been filed against her as of now. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.

The identity of the deceased child awaits confirmation by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
