Shooting Victim Dies in Hospital, El Paso Police Makes Arrest for Murder

On October 1, 2023, at approximately 8:30 p.m., El Paso Police Officers responded to a distress call at a nearby hospital, launching an investigation into an incident of aggravated assault. Upon their arrival at the hospital, the victim was undergoing surgery for injuries sustained in the incident. Preliminary information suggested that the incident was the result of an accidental shooting.

During their presence at the hospital, officers received the news that 20-year-old Dominic Marcos Arellano, a resident of Central El Paso, had succumbed to his injuries. The Crimes Against Persons Unit was summoned to the scene to support the ongoing investigation.

As the investigation progressed, surveillance video evidence came to light, revealing inconsistencies in the initial account of how the shooting transpired. Subsequently, 20-year-old Leonardo Larios, a resident of Northeast El Paso, was taken into custody and charged with Murder. Larios was subsequently booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility, with his bond amount set at $750,000.
