League City Man Arrested After Woman Fatally Stabbed, Husband Seriously Injured
LEAGUE CITY, Texas – A 32-year-old man is facing murder and aggravated assault charges after a stabbing at a League City home left a woman dead and her husband seriously injured Friday evening.
According to the League City Police Department, officers responded at approximately 7:11 p.m. on Aug. 7 to a 911 call from a man who reported that he and his wife had both been stabbed at a residence in the 1300 block of Deer Ridge Drive.
Patrol officers arrived three minutes later and found the male victim in the front yard suffering from multiple stab wounds and lacerations.
Officers immediately began providing emergency medical care. The man told officers that his wife had also been stabbed and remained inside the home with the suspect, later identified as Juan Jose Uribe Pelaez, 32.
Officers Rescue Victim, Drone Helps Locate Suspect
While outside the residence, officers saw through a window a woman lying motionless in the living room.
Police forced entry into the home and repeatedly ordered Pelaez to come outside. After receiving no response, a rescue team entered the residence and safely removed the woman before officers began rendering emergency aid until League City Fire Department EMS personnel arrived.
The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Drone Team responded to assist and deployed a drone inside the residence. The drone located Pelaez inside a bedroom, providing officers with critical information about his location.
Officers then entered the home and took Pelaez into custody after deploying a Taser.
Woman Dies at Hospital
Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Police said the female victim later died from her injuries. Her identity has not yet been released.
The male victim remains hospitalized in stable condition.
Pelaez was booked into the League City Jail and charged with:
- Murder, with bond set at $250,000
- Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Causing Serious Bodily Injury – Family Violence, with bond also set at $250,000
The investigation remains active.

The League City Police Department extended its condolences to the victims’ family and thanked the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Drone Team for its assistance, saying the coordinated response helped officers safely locate and arrest the suspect while allowing emergency personnel to provide medical care to the victims.
