Stolen BMW Pursuit Ends in Crash, Shelter-in-Place Issued in Travis County

MANOR, Texas — A stolen BMW tied to an aggravated robbery in Austin led officers on a late-night chase into Manor before crashing in a neighborhood and prompting a temporary shelter-in-place order.

During the overnight hours of Monday, February 9, 2026, the Austin Police Department was investigating an aggravated robbery in which a BMW was reported stolen. Officers later located the vehicle in Austin, but the driver fled, evading police and heading toward Manor.

As the vehicle entered the city limits, officers with the Manor Police Department attempted to initiate a traffic stop on North FM 973. The driver again refused to stop. A tire deflation device was successfully deployed, but despite the damaged tires, the BMW continued at a high rate of speed and eventually disappeared from officers’ sight.

Minutes later, residents reported a major crash in the 300 block of East Parsons Street. Responding officers confirmed the crashed vehicle was the same stolen BMW involved in the earlier pursuit.

One occupant was detained at the crash scene. A second occupant fled on foot and was believed to be armed and dangerous. Manor police issued a shelter-in-place order for residents in the immediate area while officers searched for the suspect.

With assistance from the Travis County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and Austin police, the outstanding suspect was located in the 300 block of East Burton Street and taken into custody without incident.

The shelter-in-place order was lifted shortly after the second arrest. The investigation remains ongoing, and charges are pending.
