Porter Man Arrested After Bragging About Exploiting Children

PORTER, TX – A 32-year-old Montgomery County man is behind bars following a joint undercover sting triggered by reports that he was boasting about sexually assaulting minors. Patrick Meroney, of Porter, was arrested on Friday, January 23, 2026, and charged with Online Solicitation of a Minor.
The arrest was the result of a collaborative effort between the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) and the Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office.
From “Bragging” to Handcuffs
The investigation into Meroney began when MCSO detectives received disturbing tips that the suspect had been openly bragging about engaging in sexual activity with underage children.
To turn those reports into a criminal case, MCSO partnered with Constable Ryan Gable’s office:
- The Sting: A Precinct 3 investigator launched an online undercover operation, posing as a minor to engage with Meroney.
- The Evidence: During the digital interaction, investigators say Meroney provided “sufficient evidence” of his intent and history to justify felony charges.
- The Takedown: Meroney was apprehended shortly thereafter and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.
Search for Additional Victims
While Meroney is currently facing one count of solicitation, investigators are concerned his alleged history of “bragging” suggests a broader pattern of abuse. The MCSO Special Victims Unit is now working to identify any other children who may have been harmed.
“Joint investigations such as this allow law enforcement to leverage specialized resources and expertise to better protect the community,” the Sheriff’s Office stated, extending thanks to the Precinct 3 team.
