Austin Police Recover Stolen NFA-Regulated Firearms; Two Juveniles Arrested

The Austin Police Department’s Auto Theft Unit, working with the Cedar Park Police Department and the Austin ISD Police Department, has recovered multiple stolen firearms—including federally restricted weapons—after executing a search warrant in connection with an attempted auto theft.
On September 10, 2025, investigators obtained photographs showing a suspect holding several firearms stolen during an attempted auto theft. Many of the weapons were National Firearms Act–regulated items, including silencers and short-barreled rifles.
Using investigative tools and eyewitness accounts, detectives confirmed the location shown in the photos was within Austin city limits. A search warrant was then executed at the suspect’s residence, where officers recovered eight firearms from a bedroom, including multiple silencers and short-barreled rifles.
As a result, detectives secured three arrest warrants for Possession of Prohibited Weapons against the primary suspect. During further investigation, a second suspect was identified, leading to four additional warrants for the same charge.
Both suspects—juveniles already on probation for multiple prior offenses—were taken into custody without incident and booked into the Gardner Betts Juvenile Justice Center.
