Houston Police Arrest Teen in Fatal Shooting Following Robbery
Henry Steven Aguilar

Houston police have arrested 18-year-old Henry Steven Aguilar in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred around 11:05 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, at 3400 Unity Drive. Aguilar faces charges of capital murder and evading arrest in the 185th Criminal District Court, as well as aggravated robbery in the 232nd Criminal District Court. A booking photo has been released by authorities.

The identity of the 25-year-old male victim is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

According to HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Finlay and B. Stephens, the events began when officers responded to a report of a robbery and carjacking in the 6300 block of Skyline Drive. The victim reported that three Hispanic males forcibly took his vehicle, with one suspect armed with a rifle. Two of the suspects fled in the stolen vehicle, while the armed suspect escaped in a black four-door sedan.

During the investigation, a citizen flagged down officers to report a man lying on the sidewalk nearby. Responding officers discovered the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Investigators determined that after the initial robbery, Aguilar, armed with a rifle, drove west to the corner of Unity Drive and Skyline Drive, where he attempted to rob the victim. The victim tried to defend himself but was fatally shot.

With the assistance of the South Gessner Patrol and Southwest Patrol Tactical Units, detectives located both Aguilar’s black vehicle and the stolen car. On Monday, September 22, Southwest Patrol tactical officers attempted to contact Aguilar. He fled in a vehicle and later on foot but was ultimately apprehended and booked into the Harris County Jail.

Authorities are asking anyone with information regarding the robbery or shooting to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
