Suspect Arrested in March Mass Shooting at Austin’s Lit Lounge

AUSTIN, TX – The Austin Police Department (APD) has arrested Troy Lee Tanksley in connection with the March 30, 2025, mass shooting at Lit Lounge in downtown Austin.

Tanksley was taken into custody on July 14, 2025, by the APD Aggravated Assault Unit with assistance from the Gang Suppression Unit. He was originally arrested on an unrelated outstanding warrant for a violent crime.

Following his arrest, detectives filed an additional warrant charging him with Aggravated Assault – Mass Shooting (1st Degree Felony) stemming from the Lit Lounge incident. He was booked into the Travis County Jail and is being held on a $100,000 bond.

The original shooting occurred at approximately 1:02 a.m. on March 30, 2025, at Lit Lounge, located at 215 E. 6th Street. APD officers and the Counter Assault Strike Team (CAST) responded to the scene and located four victims suffering from gunshot wounds. All four confirmed they had been shot inside the venue.
