Stolen Truck Chase Ends in Crash, 1.9 Pounds of Meth Seized in Liberty County

A high-speed pursuit through Liberty County on June 25, 2025, led to the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of 1.9 pounds of suspected crystal methamphetamine, along with a firearm.
The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit attempted to stop a white 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck near the 1600 block of U.S. Highway 90 after observing a fictitious Texas temporary tag. The driver fled westbound on U.S. 90 toward Dayton, driving into oncoming traffic.

The driver fled on foot across Highway 321 into the Burger King parking lot, where a Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit successfully apprehended him. The driver was identified as 38-year-old Matthew Forrest Jarrett, and the passenger as 36-year-old Crystal Brandy Flores. The truck was confirmed stolen out of Houston.
Inside the vehicle, law enforcement recovered approximately 1.9 pounds of suspected meth and a semi-automatic handgun.
