Life Sentence in Montgomery County Child Sexual Abuse Case, Abuse Started When Victims Where Toddlers
Jeffrey Hitchcock

A Montgomery County jury sentenced 64-year-old Jeffrey Hitchcock to life in prison on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, after finding him guilty of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Young Child. The verdict followed a trial that commenced on Monday, March 24, 2025, where prosecutors Jaime Wallace and Wes LeRouax presented compelling evidence of years of abuse.

Hitchcock, who was once trusted by the families of his victims, cared for multiple children who moved into his home as toddlers in 2005 and remained until 2014. The abuse remained hidden until 2019 when one of the victims bravely confided in a friend, leading to a school report and a law enforcement investigation.

The investigation, led by the late Detective James Blackwell of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, uncovered Hitchcock’s partial confession. Critical testimony highlighting Blackwell’s work was provided by Sgt. Burdette Taylor and Detective Kristopher Dossey. Additional testimony came from school staff, forensic interviewers, counselors, and a sexual assault nurse examiner.

The first victim gave an emotional account of the physical and sexual abuse she and her siblings endured from 2008 to 2014, detailing Hitchcock’s manipulation and threats. She also recounted witnessing the abuse of her intellectually disabled sister, who later gave powerful testimony, describing the horrific acts she suffered as a child.

The jury deliberated for only minutes before delivering a guilty verdict. During sentencing, the prosecution revealed that Hitchcock had resigned from a high school janitor position in 2013 due to inappropriate behavior with a student. ADA Wallace emphasized the lasting trauma Hitchcock’s actions inflicted on the victims, affecting their ability to trust, form relationships, and consider having children. The jury ultimately assessed a life sentence, ensuring Hitchcock will never be eligible for parole.
