The Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit is currently investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred in South Lubbock early on the morning of November 6, 2023. The incident, which resulted in the death of a 21-year-old man, unfolded in the 9100 block of Akron Avenue following a call reporting a domestic disturbance.

At 2:48 am, Lubbock Police received the call for service, prompting the dispatch of two patrol officers to the scene. The first officer, a one-year veteran, was accompanied by an 11-year veteran of the Lubbock Police Department (LPD). Upon their arrival, the officers encountered 21-year-old Noah Magallan, who allegedly brandished a deadly weapon and directed lethal force towards the responding officers.
