Two Arrested in Southwest Odessa Shooting that Injured 8-Year-Old

Odessa Police have arrested 24-year-old Santos Martin Roman and 24-year-old Anthony Gallegos Ramon Jr. in connection to a shooting on Monday, April 7th, in the 1000 block of W. Monahans that left an 8-year-old boy injured.  

Both Roman and Ramon Jr. are charged with Injury to a Child “Felony 1”, three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon “Felony 2”, and Deadly Conduct “Felony 3”.  

Police responded to the shooting call at approximately 12:12 p.m. on Monday. Investigators believe that Roman and Ramon Jr. went to the residence following a disturbance and fired multiple rounds.  

Inside the residence at the time of the shooting were two adults and two children. An 8-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital before being airlifted to Lubbock with life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.  

According to the Odessa Police Department, Roman and Ramon Jr. acted together in the commission of these crimes. Both were arrested and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center (ECLEC). The investigation is ongoing.
