Two Arrested in New Caney Following Fraud and Narcotics Investigation

The Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office has arrested two individuals, Amber Gardner, 41, and Steven Lambert, 45, both of New Caney, following an investigation into fraud and narcotics offenses.

The investigation began on April 17, 2025, after the Precinct 4 Criminal Investigations Division received an anonymous tip. With assistance from the Patrol Division, deputies located Gardner and Lambert together in a vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near State Loop 494.

During the traffic stop, deputies allegedly discovered a large quantity of sensitive personal information, including hundreds of stolen credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and forged checks. Gardner also reportedly admitted to possessing illegal narcotics, identified as Psilocybin (mushrooms) and Oxycodone.

Amber Gardner was arrested and charged with two counts of felony Possession of a Controlled Substance and 2nd degree felony Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information. Steven Lambert was arrested and charged with 2nd degree felony Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information.

Both suspects were booked into the Montgomery County Jail and remain in custody.

Constable Kenneth “Rowdy” Hayden expressed his gratitude to the citizen who provided the initial tip and to the deputies involved in the arrests. He emphasized the significant impact of such crimes and the importance of these arrests in safeguarding the community’s personal and financial security.
