Suspect in December Fatal Shooting in Houston Made by Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force

Charges have been filed against a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of Eric Colin, 30, on December 22, 2023. The suspect, Hugo Daniel Bahena Dominguez, 25, faces a murder charge in the 262nd State District Court.

The incident came to light when HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting victim dropped off at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital around 12:05 a.m. on December 22. The victim, later identified as Mr. Colin, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead by medical staff.

Further investigation revealed that an unidentified female had dropped off Colin at the hospital and departed. It was determined that the shooting had taken place in the parking lot of a restaurant at 3202 South Loop West (South Interstate Highway 610 West) at approximately 11:45 p.m. on December 21, just 20 minutes before Colin’s arrival at the hospital.

Subsequent inquiries identified Hugo Daniel Bahena Dominguez as the suspect in the case. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was notified, and charges were brought against Bahena Dominguez. On Tuesday, January 30, officers from the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force apprehended Bahena Dominguez.
