The investigation originated from Morales’s response to a hit-and-run incident in the 6600 block of Westfield. Upon inspection, it was discovered that U.S. currency had gone missing from a locked glove box and a small bag left inside the vehicle involved in the incident. The owner of the property reported the disappearance of funds, prompting a detailed inquiry into the matter.

As a result of the investigation, the El Paso Police Department has initiated the termination process for Officer Ruben Morales.
