Arrests Made in Memorial Day Biker Gang Shooting in Odessa
The Odessa Police Department has made an arrest following a Memorial Day shooting involving two rival biker gangs. The incident took place on the 3000 block of Andrews Highway and led to aggravated assault charges for both parties involved.
Victor Gomez, 36, exited his vehicle and approached Gilbert Corrales, 41, who was on his motorcycle in the middle of the roadway. Evidence suggests that Gomez struck Corrales with a baseball bat. Corrales then followed Gomez to his vehicle and fired a single shot, hitting Gomez in the torso.
Both men fled the scene after the altercation. Members of both gangs have been interviewed but have provided either no information or false information regarding the incident.
Gomez is currently in stable but critical condition in the ICU at Medical Center Hospital. Warrants have been obtained and will be served upon his release. Corrales has been transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center and faces charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Possession of Body Armor by a Felon, and Marijuana possession.
