Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Three Family Members in Houston
Bryan J. Fernandez Hernandez, 27, has been arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with the fatal shooting of two women and one man at an apartment complex located at 10580 Hammerly Boulevard. The incident occurred at approximately 3:10 p.m. on Saturday, June 22.
Houston Police Department (HPD) patrol officers responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a home invasion in progress at the given address. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Fernandez Hernandez, who claimed he had shot three home invaders.
However, further investigation revealed that a home invasion had not taken place. Evidence from the scene and subsequent investigations determined that Fernandez Hernandez had shot three of his family members inside the apartment and then called 9-1-1. The victims include two women, aged 65 and 43, and a man, aged 38. Their identities are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The older female victim lived in the apartment, while the other two victims had been visiting for several days. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was notified, and Fernandez Hernandez was formally charged with capital murder in the 183rd State District Court.
The investigation is ongoing.
