Suspect Arrested at Quality Inn Motel After Fleeing Deputies

On January 20, 2024, Patrol Deputies from Harris County Constable Jerry Garcia’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious person at the Quality Inn Motel on the 800 block of Mercury Drive, Houston, Texas 77013. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the male suspect and attempted to issue a criminal trespass warning. However, during detainment, the suspect fled on foot.

With the assistance of external agencies, deputies established a perimeter and successfully located the suspect. The individual was identified as 22-year-old Axel Rivas, who was found to have two open felony warrants from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office for Felony Evading and Felony Tampering of Evidence. Additionally, Mr. Rivas was discovered to be in possession of a controlled substance.

Subsequently, Mr. Rivas was taken into custody and charged with Felony Possession of a controlled substance and Misdemeanor-Escaping Detainment/Arrest. He was then transported and booked into the Harris County Jail in good health.
