Suspect Arrested After Woman Assaulted, Pushed Into Traffic on Lockwood Drive
A suspect has been apprehended in connection with the assault of a woman that occurred at 6503 Lockwood Drive on Thursday evening, February 22nd. Charles Lee Jones, 64, faces charges of aggravated assault of a family member following the incident.
The victim, a 42-year-old woman, was gravely injured and rushed to a nearby hospital after the altercation. Witnesses reported that the altercation between Jones and his girlfriend, identified as the victim, escalated rapidly. Nearby onlookers intervened as they observed Jones assaulting the woman. In the course of the altercation, Jones reportedly struck one of the witnesses with an unopened can before shoving the victim into oncoming traffic, resulting in her being struck by a passing vehicle.
Emergency responders from the Houston Fire Department promptly arrived at the scene and transported the victim to the hospital for urgent medical attention.
Upon the arrival of Houston Police Department patrol officers, Jones was swiftly taken into custody without further resistance. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was informed of the incident, leading to Jones being formally charged in connection to the assault.
