Six Lives Lost in Houston Intersection Collision After Driver Runs Red Light at High Speed

In a devastating incident early Saturday morning, six individuals lost their lives after a driver recklessly sped through a red light on Fannin Street near the Gulf Freeway, according to the Houston Police Department.

The collision occurred shortly after 2 a.m. at the intersection of Fannin Street and Pierce Street. Authorities reported that a Chrysler, traveling at a high speed, ran a red light and collided with an Acura SUV. Tragically, four individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, while four others were rushed to a nearby hospital, where two of them succumbed to their injuries.

Among the victims, one woman is reported to have sustained life-threatening injuries, and Houston Police are currently in communication with one survivor undergoing treatment.

The driver of the Chrysler, identified as one of the deceased, was reportedly speeding at the time of the crash. Additionally, among the fatalities, there appears to be a homeless man, according to the Houston Police Department.

An ongoing investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. TV news outlets are reporting that one of the deceased is former University of Houston and NFL football player D.J. Hayden.
