Juvenile Arrested in Florida After Robbery of 79-Year-Old Man Outside Pearland Walgreens

PEARLAND, Texas – A juvenile suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the aggravated robbery of a 79-year-old man outside a Pearland Walgreens after authorities tracked the suspect to Florida.

According to the Pearland Police Department, the robbery occurred on June 19, 2026, at the Walgreens in the 11600 block of Shadow Creek Parkway.

Investigators said the 79-year-old victim had just withdrawn cash from a nearby ATM and was returning to his vehicle when he was approached by an unidentified male wearing a white shirt and black pants.

The suspect allegedly assaulted the victim, causing bodily injury, before stealing his wallet and the cash he had just withdrawn.

A witness recorded the robbery, and the video was later released on the Pearland Police Department’s Facebook page as investigators sought the public’s help identifying the suspect.

Community Tips Lead to Identification

On June 30, Pearland police announced that investigators had identified the suspect as a juvenile and were working to locate him.

Following several investigative leads from community members, the Pearland Police Department, with assistance from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, located and detained the juvenile in Miami, Florida.

Multi-State Effort Returns Suspect to Texas

Authorities said the Texas Juvenile Justice Department, Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, and the Pearland Police Department coordinated the juvenile’s return to Texas through the Interstate Compact for Juveniles.

Members of the Pearland Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, the Texas Department of Public Safety Violent Crimes Unit in Houston, and the Texas Department of Public Safety Aircraft Operations Division in Austin traveled to Miami and safely transported the juvenile back to Texas.

The juvenile was booked into the Brazoria County Juvenile Detention Center and charged with Aggravated Robbery of an Elderly or Disabled Person, a first-degree felony.

Pearland police thanked community members whose tips helped identify and locate the suspect and also expressed appreciation to the numerous law enforcement agencies that assisted throughout the investigation, calling the case an example of the value of cooperation between the public and law enforcement.
