Shooting Erupts at El Paso Bar: Gang-Related Altercation Leaves One Injured

In the early morning hours of Sunday, November 26, 2023, officers responded to a shooting incident at the 99 Problems Bar & Grill located at 1515 Lee Trevino. The response followed an altercation involving individuals claiming affiliation with different gangs. Thirty-year-old Steven Hearn sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the incident and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

The El Paso Police Department’s Gang Unit arrived at the scene to aid in the investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that at 1:39 A.M., a verbal dispute escalated into a physical altercation. During the fight, a suspect produced a firearm, leading the victim, Hearn, to attempt disarming the individual. During the struggle, Hearn was shot.

The situation further intensified, resulting in additional fights and gunfire outside the establishment. No other injuries were reported.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
