Security Guard Shoots Armed Man in South Side Houston

A shooting incident that resulted in the death of a male occurred at 3826 Faulkner Street in the South Side around 11 p.m. on Wednesday (April 3). The case is now being referred to a Harris County grand jury. The identity of the deceased male is awaiting verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The shooter, identified as a security guard, emerged unharmed from the incident.

Houston Police Department (HPD) patrol officers arrived at the scene following reports of a shooting and discovered an unresponsive male with gunshot wounds inside an apartment. The male was pronounced dead by Houston Fire Department paramedics.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the security officer intervened to break up a disturbance involving the deceased male and another individual within the complex. The deceased male, who appeared to be impaired, grew agitated, returned to his apartment to retrieve a weapon, and then confronted the security guard, brandishing the gun. In response to the perceived threat to his life, the security guard discharged his weapon, striking the male.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office has been informed of the incident and has opted to refer the case to a grand jury for further deliberation.
