Pedestrian Killed in Crash on West Interstate Highway 610 North

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred early today, April 4, at approximately 2:25 a.m. The incident took place at 300 West Interstate Highway 610 North.

According to reports, an off-duty HPD lieutenant was driving his city vehicle, a black Chevrolet Impala, northbound at the mentioned address. At that moment, a male pedestrian dashed across the freeway’s main lanes and was struck by the Impala.

Following the initial collision, a gray Dodge Denali pickup truck, also traveling on the West Loop North, collided with the rear of the Impala.

Emergency responders from the Houston Fire Department rushed to the scene. The male pedestrian was pronounced deceased by paramedics. The identity of the deceased male is currently pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Fortunately, neither the off-duty lieutenant nor the two males in the Dodge Denali pickup truck sustained any injuries in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
