Port Arthur Man Sentenced to 60 Years for Child Abuse; Girlfriend Gets 30 Years
Port Arthur resident Jaylin Jevon Lewis, 26, was sentenced to 60 years in prison on Thursday for two counts of Injury to a Child/Elderly/Disabled Individual with Intent to Cause Serious Bodily Injury/Mental Impairment. His girlfriend, Kirsten Louis, who is also the victim’s sister, was sentenced to 30 years after pleading guilty to Injury to a Child/Elderly/Disabled Individual earlier this week.
The charges relate to a 2022 investigation in the 300 block of Richmond Avenue, Port Arthur, where a 3-year-old child was found deceased from starvation. Preliminary investigations indicated that the child had been locked in a closet and neglected. The child was under the care of Lewis and Louis at the time, who had been entrusted with the child by his mother, Tina Louise Louis. Tina Louise Louis is currently out on bond, and her trial date is yet to be scheduled.
The Port Arthur Police Department praised Detective Ileana Jaquez and the Criminal Investigation Division for their thorough work on the case, stating, “They literally left no rock unturned, resulting in a very detailed, thorough investigation.”
