Pedestrian Killed in Southeast Houston Hit-and-Run Crash

Houston police are currently conducting an investigation into a tragic auto-pedestrian collision that occurred on Sunday, October 15, at approximately 2:15 a.m. The incident unfolded at the 5800 block of Pershing Street in Southeast Houston, with authorities working to confirm the identity of the deceased woman, aged 43, pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The woman was walking on or near the sidewalk on Pershing Street when a vehicle, of unknown make or model, was traveling westbound. For reasons yet to be determined, the vehicle left the roadway and struck the woman. In a distressing turn of events, the vehicle immediately fled the scene without rendering any medical assistance.

Upon their arrival, Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the injured woman to Ben Taub General Hospital. Tragically, medical professionals at the hospital pronounced her deceased.

Houston police are actively pursuing leads and gathering evidence to identify the vehicle involved and locate its driver.
