Pedestrian Collision Claims Life in El Paso

In a tragic incident on Tuesday evening, the Special Traffic Investigations unit was called to the scene of a collision involving a pedestrian. Preliminary information indicates that the incident occurred on Lee Trevino, where 65-year-old Arnaldo Villarreal was crossing the street in a non-designated area.

The driver, identified as Mr. Hufford, was traveling northbound on Lee Trevino when the collision took place. Despite Mr. Hufford’s attempts to avoid the pedestrian, the collision was unavoidable. Following the incident, emergency responders transported Mr. Villarreal to a local hospital.

Mr. Villarreal succumbed to his injuries after arriving at the hospital. The preliminary investigation points to the pedestrian crossing in a non-designated area as the contributing factor to the collision.

This marks the 67th traffic fatality in the city this year, in comparison to 62 at the same time last year. Authorities continue to investigate the incident to gather further details.
