One Dead in Fatal High-Speed Crash in Spring, Texas, Racing Suspected

On Saturday, January 20, 2024, at approximately 0211 hours, authorities were dispatched to the intersection of 5300 Spring Stuebner Road and Kardy Street in Spring, TX, in response to a one-car major crash with a fatality.

The involved vehicle, a 2007 Silver Nissan Altima (Unit 1), was traveling in the westbound number one lane on Spring Stuebner. The driver of Unit 1 was identified as 20-year-old Framanian Donzeil Plowden.

Preliminary findings suggest that Unit 1 failed to control speed, likely due to a high rate of speed. The vehicle jumped the curb, crossed the eastbound lanes, and ultimately collided with a power pole and a brick fence in the backyard of a residence at 5402 Trammel Drive. The vehicle came to a rest with its front facing south.

The driver, Framanian Donzeil Plowden, was confirmed deceased by Harris County Emergency Services District 11 Medic 403 at 0208 hours, as reported by Petty Danrell.

There are indications that Unit 1 may have been involved in racing, as it is believed to have been racing side by side with an unknown black Dodge Ram prior to the crash. However, no video footage was recovered during the initial stages of the investigation.

As of now, no further information is available, and the case will remain under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
