Odessa Police Arrest Man after Shots Fired in Domestic Dispute Standoff

On January 11, 2024, at 12:24 AM, Odessa Police officers responded to a shots fired call in the 4900 block of Locust Ave. Following an argument between a 30-year-old white male, identified as Randy Baker Jr., and his mother and friend, the subject discharged a firearm inside the residence.

Responding officers safely evacuated the mother and friend from the scene, initiating the involvement of the crisis negotiators unit and SWAT team. After several hours of continuous communication, Randy Baker Jr. was located outside his residence and found in possession of a firearm.

Baker was subsequently arrested on multiple charges, including Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (2nd Degree Felony), Unlawful Carrying a Weapon (Class A Misdemeanor), Discharge a Firearm in the City Limits (Class C Misdemeanor), and Public Intoxication (Class C Misdemeanor). Additionally, he was taken into custody as a Fugitive from Justice based on an extraditable warrant from New Mexico for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
