Missing 6-Year-Old Girl Safely Recovered in Houston; Kidnapping Suspect Arrested

HOUSTON, Texas – A 6-year-old girl was safely recovered and a kidnapping suspect was taken into custody Saturday following an investigation by deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s Office.

According to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, deputies developed information regarding the possible whereabouts of a missing child and her alleged kidnapper on May 30.

Members of the agency’s Special Operations Unit responded to the 1600 block of Hawthorne Street in Houston’s Montrose area after obtaining information about the suspect’s location.

Upon arrival, deputies located the suspect, identified as 36-year-old James Dean Ramirez, and took him into custody without incident.

Authorities said the 6-year-old female victim was safely located at the scene and recovered. She was reunited with her mother and underwent a welfare assessment.

Ramirez was transported to the Harris County Jail and charged on a kidnapping warrant issued through the 230th District Court.

His bond was set at $20,000.
