Michigan Man Arrested on Charges of Online Solicitation of a Minor in Harris County

James Patrick Murphy, a 34-year-old resident, was arrested this week by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office on charges of Online Solicitation of a Minor, a 2nd degree felony. The arrest followed a proactive undercover investigation conducted by the PCT 1, utilizing social media platforms.

According to authorities, Murphy traveled to Houston, Texas, as part of the ongoing investigation but managed to leave town before he could be apprehended. Subsequently, law enforcement took him into custody at his residence in Flushing, Michigan. Murphy was later extradited back to Harris County.

On January 7, 2024, Murphy posted a $75,000 bond and was released. The accused works as a project manager specializing in computer software development.
