In January 2023, deputies and detectives from the Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office responded to a residence in the Lockeridge Farms subdivision following a call about a suicide with a firearm. The victim, identified as a child, was found wearing a gaming headset and appeared to be online at the time of their death.

A comprehensive investigation ensued, involving multiple search warrants, legal procedures, and interviews with members of an online gaming community across various states. Ultimately, a juvenile male suspect in the State of Michigan was identified.

Following the investigation, the case was presented to the Montgomery County Attorney’s Office. On December 7, 2023, the juvenile male suspect appeared in a Montgomery County Court, where he pled true to a felony charge of Aiding Suicide and a misdemeanor charge of Harassment Causing Death. Due to the ages of those involved, names are being withheld.

The Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office emphasized their commitment to taking cyberbullying investigations seriously, vowing to pursue such cases to the fullest extent. The office expressed gratitude to the Montgomery County Attorney’s Office and the Allen Park Police Department in Michigan for their cooperation and assistance throughout the investigation.
