Marfa Texas Youth Softball Coach Pleads Guilty to Child Pornography Charges
A Marfa, Texas, man, Patricio Javier Serrano, 36, has pleaded guilty to federal charges of possession and transportation of child pornography, aiding and abetting, in a federal court in Alpine today.
According to a criminal complaint affidavit filed in May, Serrano was found in possession of multiple photos and videos containing child sexual abuse material, which were discovered on his cell phone and in his phone’s web browser.
Serrano entered a guilty plea for one count of transportation of child pornography, aiding and abetting, and one count of possession of child pornography. He could face a sentence of no less than five years and up to 20 years in prison for the transportation charge, and up to 20 years in prison for the possession charge. The final sentence will be determined by a federal district court judge after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Jaime Esparza of the Western District of Texas. The case is currently under investigation by multiple agencies, including the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Marfa Police Department.
