Manhunt Ends: K9 Deputy Apprehends Shooting Suspect in Northwest Harris County

On the evening of Friday, February 2, 2024, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez reported that deputies responded to a shooting incident at the Legacy at Cypress Apartments located at the 11100 block of Grant Rd in Northwest Harris County. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a deceased male in the courtyard area, with preliminary information suggesting a possible robbery attempt.

A suspect, described as a light-skinned black male with short dreads, wearing a white shirt, black sweats, and white slides, fled the scene on foot. In response, law enforcement initiated an active search, establishing a perimeter around the area. Deputies from Constable Precinct 4 joined the efforts, urging the public to avoid the vicinity.

A significant police presence was observed at the 12700 block of Perry Road and Mills Road, as K9 officers were deployed to aid in the search for the fleeing suspect. At approximately 6:49 pm, Constable Mark Herman provided an update, announcing the successful apprehension of the shooting suspect by Constable Canine R.E. Moore at the 12600 block of Summer Mill.
