Man Walking Dog Witnesses Vehicle Burglary, Burglars Shoot at Him in Pearland

On August 21, 2024, at approximately 4:20 A.M., Pearland Police Department officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 3700 Block of Inland Drive, Pearland, Brazoria County, Texas. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who reported that he had been shot at while walking his dog. The victim noticed a light on in his vehicle and observed an individual in dark clothing standing in the street. The victim had inadvertently walked up on a burglary of a motor vehicle.

The suspect, armed with a handgun, fired approximately 14 times in the victim’s direction. The victim took cover behind a nearby trashcan, and the suspect fled north on Inland Drive. The victim was not struck by gunfire but sustained minor cuts to his elbow and knee.

The suspects were seen fleeing the scene in a dark-colored Toyota Camry. Numerous burglaries of motor vehicles were reported in the neighborhood. Based on video evidence obtained, it is believed that three suspects were involved, described as Hispanic or light-skinned Black males. The Pearland Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is actively investigating this case.
