Man Charged After Telling Deputies He Shot Wife in East Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A man has been charged with murder after allegedly calling 911 and reporting he had shot his wife, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies with District 3 responded on Saturday, May 2nd, to the 14200 block of Texarkana Street in the Cloverleaf area after a caller stated he had just shot his wife.
When deputies arrived, they detained the suspect, identified as Jose A. Romero, 43, without incident. Inside the residence, they found 39-year-old Yanira Marin de Romero in a bathroom with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to conduct the investigation.
According to investigators, Romero told detectives he shot his wife because he believed she did not take his back pain seriously.
Romero has been charged with murder and is currently being held in the Harris County Jail.
The investigation remains ongoing.
