Man Arrested for Murder Following Altercation in Snyder, Texas

On Wednesday, September 13, 2023, Snyder Police Officers responded to a call in the 2200 block of 43rd Street, leading to the discovery of an unresponsive male identified as 39-year-old Robert Riojas. Riojas was found deceased, with signs suggesting he had been involved in a physical altercation that led to his tragic death.
Following the discovery, the Snyder Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, in collaboration with the Texas Rangers, initiated an investigation into the incident. During the course of their inquiry, detectives identified a suspect, 36-year-old Rogelio Gallegos. A Murder Warrant was subsequently issued for Mr. Gallegos, and a public alert was issued to seek assistance from the community in locating him.
According to an arrest affidavit, initial reports indicated that the incident involved a stabbing, and Mr. Riojas was discovered approximately 237 yards away from his residence. It was revealed during the investigation that Mr. Riojas had recently assaulted Lashekka Gallegos, his fiancé and mother of two children previously fathered by Rogelio Gallegos.
The affidavit further detailed the presence of video footage from Lashekka’s patio area, capturing Rogelio Gallegos and other individuals moving between the patio and the alley where Mr. Riojas’ body was found. Subsequent interviews and video analysis indicated that Mr. Gallegos had stabbed the victim multiple times with a knife, leading to his tragic demise.
On the evening of September 15, 2023, Rogelio Gallegos was taken into custody by Snyder PD Detectives, following intensive efforts by law enforcement to locate and apprehend the suspect.
