Man Arrested for Assaulting His Brother, Attempts to Set Him on Fire

Harris County Constable Precinct 3 Night Shift Deputies responded to a disturbance call in the 12000 block of Fern Forest Dr. According to authorities, upon arrival, they encountered a victim who reported an altercation with his brother, identified as Matthew Houston.

The victim alleged that Houston entered his room and assaulted him by striking him in the face with a metal chair and a portable heater. Additionally, the victim claimed that Houston threatened to stab him if he contacted the police. Moments later, Houston returned to the room and set fire to the blanket the victim was using.

Fearing for his safety, the victim promptly left the residence and sought refuge at a nearby gas station, where he called for assistance. Deputies promptly reached out to both the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and the Harris County Fire Marshal’s office.

Matthew Houston has been charged and arrested for “assault family violence-second.” The Harris County Fire Marshal’s office is actively investigating the case, with charges pending.
