Man Arrested After Stealing Ambulance With Paramedic Inside in Tomball

TOMBALL, Texas — A man has been arrested after authorities say he stole a private ambulance with a paramedic still inside before abandoning the vehicle and attempting to flee on foot.
According to Constable Mark Herman’s Office, deputies responded Monday, July 6, to Park Manor Nursing Home, located at 250 School Street in Tomball, after receiving a report that a private ambulance had been stolen.
The caller told dispatchers an unknown suspect drove away in the ambulance while one of the paramedics remained inside the rear of the vehicle.
Deputies quickly located the stolen ambulance abandoned in the 19400 block of Bold River Road.
Authorities then spotted the suspect running along nearby railroad tracks. After a brief search, deputies took the suspect into custody without incident.
The suspect was identified as 41-year-old Tyrell Thomas.
Officials said the paramedic who was inside the ambulance was found unharmed.
Thomas was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a medical condition.
Following the investigation, detectives filed a felony theft charge against Thomas in the 497th District Court.
