Man Arrested After Assaulting Deputy and Family Members in Dayton, Texas
William Switoyus

On April 3, 2024, at around 8:05 PM, a Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Corporal responded to a disturbance call at a residence on Hunter Ranch Way, Dayton, Texas. Upon arrival, the Corporal spoke with the victim who reported that her stepfather, identified as William Switoyus, had been drinking and entered her room, yelling at her and pushing her against a window. She expressed fear for her safety. An additional LCSO deputy arrived to assist.

51-year-old William Switoyus was informed of his arrest, but he resisted. During the attempt to handcuff him, Switoyus swung his fist, striking the deputy in the left jaw. After a struggle, Switoyus was eventually subdued and taken into custody.

Subsequent to Switoyus’ arrest, his wife arrived at the scene and informed deputies that she too had been assaulted. She recounted being seated in a chair outside when Switoyus forcibly threw her and the chair to the ground, subsequently kicking and stomping on her back, causing pain.

William Switoyus now faces multiple charges, including Assault of a Peace Officer (a felony of the second degree), Resisting Arrest, Search, or Transport (a misdemeanor class A), and two counts of Assault causing bodily injury to a family member (misdemeanor class A).
