Major Cocaine Bust in Sweetwater After K-9 Unit Assists in Traffic Stop

In a collaborative effort, law enforcement agencies successfully intercepted a significant drug trafficking operation on February 1, 2024. The Sweetwater Police Department’s K-9 Unit responded to a request for assistance from the 32nd Judicial District Attorney’s office during a routine traffic stop on IH20.

Upon receiving a positive K-9 alert, authorities conducted a thorough search of the vehicle, leading to the discovery of approximately 18 kilograms of Cocaine concealed within the property. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody and transported to the Nolan County Jail, where he is facing charges related to the illicit substance.

This successful operation is attributed to the effective coordination and cooperation among various law enforcement entities, including the 32nd District Attorney’s Office, Nolan County Sheriff’s Office, City of Sweetwater Staff, Texas DPS, and the Sweetwater Police Department.
