Magnolia Youth Softball Coach Arrested in Harris County Online Solicitation Sting

HOUSTON, TX — A 37-year-old Magnolia youth softball coach and tech company lineman is behind bars after a Harris County cyber dragnet caught him arranging a physical meeting to have sex with an undercover detective posing as a 15-year-old girl.
Nathan Scott Velez was arrested on Thursday, June 11, 2026, by tactical units with Harris County Constable Precinct One. He has been slapped with a high-level felony solicitation charge following a months-long sting operation.
Cyber Units Monitor Local Chat Rooms
The case against Velez was built by Constable Precinct One’s specialized Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit, a regional division operating under the umbrella of the Houston Metro ICAC Task Force.
According to Harris County court records, the investigation kicked off in early April 2026 when an undercover detective established a teenage persona on a digital chat platform. Over the course of several weeks, Velez routinely engaged the undercover account in highly explicit, escalating conversations.
In sworn affidavits, detectives documented that Velez persistently requested nude photographs of the fictional 15-year-old and detailed explicit sexual acts he intended to perform on her once they met. Court records show Velez explicitly pressed the undercover operative, asking: “When do I get to see your body? When do I get to see you in person?”
Believing he was bypassing parental oversight, Velez finalized explicit physical travel arrangements to meet the minor for a sexual encounter, triggering immediate physical interception by Harris County deputies.
Youth Sports Background Sparks Call for Public Tips
The arrest has sent ripples through local community leagues, as investigators confirmed Velez actively coaches a youth softball team in neighboring Montgomery County. He also maintains regular residential and commercial access across the region through his professional employment as a lineman for a major technology firm.
Harris County Constable Alan Rosen emphasized that his cyber squads are aggressively scrubbing Velez’s hardware for any signs of local victimization and issued an urgent call to parents:
“We will always do all we can to protect children. Our detectives patrol cyber space and they catch predators. We need everyone’s help to keep children safe. If you see something or know something, please give us a call.”
Penalties and Contact Information
Velez has been processed into the local holding facility and faces a third-degree felony charge of Online Solicitation of a Minor. Under the Texas Penal Code, a conviction carries a statutory penalty of two to 10 years in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice state prison facility, alongside a maximum fine of up to $10,000.
Because of Velez’s direct, unmonitored access to minors through youth sports leagues, the Harris County Constable’s Office is urging parents, league organizers, or anyone with information regarding inappropriate interactions involving the defendant to contact Precinct One’s ICAC Unit immediately at 713-222-4929.
