Lawn Worker Arrested After Alleged Assault on Postal Carrier in Spring

On March 12, 2025, deputies with Harris County Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to a weapons disturbance in the 23600 block of Willow Haven Drive in Spring, Texas.

Deputies identified the individual involved as 51-year-old Margarita Avila, a lawn worker.

According to investigators, Avila was weeding grass near a cluster mailbox when a postal worker asked her to step back due to debris blowing on her. After a second request and a tap on her shoulder, Avila allegedly attacked the postal worker with the weed eater, leaving multiple welts on her arm and body.

Avila was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Assault-Bodily Injury. Her bond was set at $100 out of County Court 3.
