La Marque Man Faces Aggravated Assault Charges After Early Morning Shooting

In the early hours of February 5, 2024, at around 4:30 a.m., the La Marque Police Department Patrol Division received a dispatch to an address in the 100 block of Anita, La Marque.

A dispute unfolded between 62-year-old resident Richard Pleasant Sr. and a 40-year-old male victim, both from La Marque. Subsequent to the argument, Pleasant Sr. allegedly shot the victim with a handgun. The injured party was then transported to Mainland Medical Hospital by a family member in a private vehicle. Presently, the victim is in serious condition, though anticipated to survive the sustained injuries.

The La Marque Police Department Criminal Investigation Division (CID) responded to the incident, conducting a thorough investigation. Following the inquiry and in consultation with the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office, charges were accepted against Pleasant Sr. for his involvement in the incident.

Pleasant Sr. now faces charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and a bond of $100,000 has been assigned in connection to the case.
