Jury Delivers Guilty Verdict in 2024 Fatal Shooting of Amarillo Woman

AMARILLO – After an 18-month investigation and trial process, justice has been delivered in the murder of Cecilia “Ceci” Rodriguez, who was tragically killed in February 2024 while her two young children, including a newborn, were inside the home.
On August 8, 2025, a jury found Juan Salinas guilty of murder and sentenced him to life in prison.
From the initial 911 call through the trial, Amarillo Police Department officers, investigators, and dispatchers, alongside the Randall County District Attorney’s Office and supporting agencies, worked to bring the case to resolution. Forensic experts, crime scene teams, and prosecutors built the evidence needed for conviction, ensuring that Rodriguez’s children, family, and community received justice.
“This outcome ensures that Cecilia’s children, family, and friends have the justice they deserve,” authorities stated.
The Amarillo Police Department credited the dedication of responding officers, crime scene units, forensic specialists, dispatchers, and prosecutors for their roles in the investigation and trial.
Rodriguez’s family was honored in the statement, and officials emphasized continued support for victims of abuse.
