Humble Police Respond to Gunfire, Apprehend Suspect After Foot Chase

Humble Police Officers responded to reports of gunfire near S Bender Ave, taking action to investigate the situation. Upon arrival, two officers encountered a suspicious individual walking in the middle of the road, noticing a handgun tucked into his waistband. Moving quickly, the officers disarmed the individual, but he managed to break free and flee on foot.

Undeterred, the officers pursued the suspect on foot for several hundred yards, maintaining visual contact. Assistance from a Humble Police K9 team, comprising a handler and K9 ZERO, bolstered the pursuit. As K9 ZERO closed in on the suspect, he made a sudden turn and surrendered to the officers upon realizing the K9’s presence.

The recovered firearm was found to be hot to the touch, indicating recent use. Further investigation revealed that the suspect had discharged shots into the ground. Subsequently, the suspect was taken into custody, and criminal charges were filed against him.

The suspect was identified as 23-year-old Isaiah Kazimir Garcia.
