Houston Police Investigating Fatal Crash Involving 95-Year-Old Pedestrian
Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Monday, February 19th, at approximately 3:35 p.m. The incident took place at the intersection of 101 East 14th Street.
According to reports, a silver Chevrolet Suburban was traveling westbound at the aforementioned address and had a green light when it approached the intersection of Heights Boulevard. At this point, the driver attempted to make a left turn to go southbound on Heights Boulevard. However, during the turn, the vehicle struck a female pedestrian who was crossing Heights Boulevard in the designated crosswalk.
The victim, identified as a 95-year-old female, was immediately attended to by paramedics and transported to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, she was later pronounced deceased.
The identity of the deceased victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The driver of the Chevrolet Suburban, a 52-year-old female, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Police stated that she did not exhibit any signs of intoxication. She was questioned and subsequently released pending further investigation.
As of now, no charges have been filed in connection with the incident. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
