Houston Man Charged With Murder in Fatal Driveway Shooting of 64-Year-Old

HOUSTON, Texas – A 32-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 64-year-old man outside a residence in southeast Houston earlier this month, according to the Houston Police Department.

Matthew Carrizal is charged with murder in the 185th Criminal District Court in the death of Robert Gonzales, 64.

The shooting occurred at about 5:20 a.m. on July 16 in the 6900 block of Boyce Street.

Houston police officers responded to a report of a shooting and found Gonzales lying outside his vehicle in the driveway of the residence with multiple gunshot wounds.

Paramedics with the Houston Fire Department pronounced Gonzales dead at the scene.

According to investigators, neighbors reported hearing a disturbance in the driveway before multiple gunshots were fired.

Houston Police Department Homicide Division detectives identified Carrizal as the suspect during the investigation and obtained a murder charge against him.

On July 24, Carrizal was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing.
